1. Mongolian gobi desert
Mongolian gobi is the most visited destination of tourism of Mongolia. It is considered that about more than 80% of foreign tourists head for gobi desert. The gobi has plenty of incredible sightseeings and amazing formations of earth. The basic touristic destinations of gobi is named national park “3 beauties of gobi” /gobi gurvan saikhan”.
1st attraction is yoliin am/great canyon of eagles/, Yoliin am is the coolest area of the desert ,it is the last part of Altai mountains. Main thing is hiking through canyon. If you are fancy of hiking,let your driver drop you off at first side of the canyon and do hiking through canyon untill next side of the canyon, there the driver would be waiting for you.there is a trail and it takes around 2 hours. If you are lazy,I would say don’t do it! In the canyon ice lays down until middle of July. Because high narrow canyon hides that frozen ice from sun with their shadows. The golden eagles flies on the peaks of the rocky canyon,they protects their nests. That is also one of interesting phenomenon.
2nd attraction is Khongor sanddune/the most beautifull sandslope in the desert/. The sandslope lays from west to east around 180km and the wide is about normally 3-4km, but about 20km is in some parts. The sandslope also called singing dune. When it is windy day we could hear a sound as same as an airplane on the sanddune. Actually that sound comes from moving sand. So we call it singing dune. During summer local families and ger camps stay there and serve tourists with cameltreking,accomodations and sandsledding.
3rd attraction is Bayanzag. But this place is famous for name flaming cliffs. As written in historical resourse that place was a pasture and something area that dinosaurs gathered there. In 1920ies American paleontologist Roy Chapman Andrews discovered the destination and he found many bones and eggs here during his journey from China to Europe. Basic view of the destination looks like enormous red walls and interesting formation. That is definitely clear evidence that Gobi was sea millions years ago.
2. Reindeer community
If you come to Mongolia, it is better to visit the unique nomads reindeer people. We call them “tsaatan’’. Tsaatan people are indangered tribe in Mongolia. They live in Taiga in the northern part of Mongolia. There is rough number about more than only 2000 of population. There is only 2 groups of tsaatan living in the east and west taiga. These days they have been still living in a teepee, preserving their traditional custom in wild taiga. But under the influence of technological development obviously they have been a cellphone and some other modern tools for their daily life, and their kids also prefer to move to civilization istead of staying here. So we don’t know what would happened be 20 years later? That amazing nomadic tribe would be disappeared?
3. Eagle people /Kazakh people/
Kazakh people is not Mongolian people ,they are totally different from Mongolians for language,culture ,religion,history and even attitude. They live in the very west part of Mongolia. If you visit Bayn-Ulgii province, you will explore their incredible culture, custom and daily life. But you need at least 10-20 days to explore it. That would be amazing trip except it is long way. Also that remote area is surrounded by many eternal snowy mountains and the highest snowy peak at 4650m above sea level is existing there.
